Sir,
I have the honour to invite your attention to my Despatch No. 252 of the 10th of last July.
2.
With reference to the 2nd paragraph of that Despatch, I am in receipt of your telegrams of the 13th September and 14th October, to the latter of which I replied on the 18th instant to the effect that I was prepared to leave the question of the salary to be paid to the Chief Clerk at the Colonial Secretary's Office, in your discretion. I shall now be glad to learn whether the other recommendations, contained in my Despatch under reference, have met with your approval.
